ReSCI assists organizations to see more clearly the joint effects on the implementation of sustainability practices of various external influences, decision drivers, organizational enablers, and internal inhibitors. In one sense, it is rather expected that the more that sustainability issues dominate the dialogue of a company’s decision makers, the more sustainability practices that the company will employ. The learning environment is an important factor in customizing our learning programs. We place considerable emphasis on creating environmental conditions believed to maximize learning potential. Our integrative learning approach is based on a belief that environments that minimize or eliminate traditional barriers to learning allow learners to use more of their cognitive potential and cause greater learning and retention to occur. Learning barriers include negative reinforcement, fear of failure, boredom, and anxiety.

ReSCI challenges our clients to fully grasp how the processes necessary for organizational efficiency and continuity can co-exist with the adaptability required to deal with unanticipated difficulties and challenges. We consider the balance of exploitation and exploration which allows us to understand better the nature of organizational responses to adversity. We first unpack the individual-level practices that managers undertake, thereby identifying the complex, interwoven, interactions that enable the awareness and containment of potential risks. We then identify distinct organization-level modes of operation that shape responses to unforeseen events under different levels of uncertainty.

We turn a critical lens on a number of organizational instruments or elements, such as rules, membership, hierarchy and control, in the form of monitoring and sanctions in order to identify barriers to high performance.
